With dynamic imagery, intricate collaging, and deep symbolism, the Into the Mystery Album Redesign is a visual system re-brand for NEEDTOBREATHE’s “Into the Mystery”  album that focuses on two main themes of the album: nostalgia and exploration. This redesign reflects the album's music and connects with listeners on an emotional level.

The album’s visual system draws viewers in and appeals to their sense of nostalgia and exploration in order to connect with users and communicate the impression of the music.

The nostalgic nature of the album is communicated through symbolic objects that have special meaning to the band members. The basketball is nostalgic for the band because they grew up playing pickup basketball in their neighborhood and the white horse is an homage to one of the band’s most famous albums, The Outsiders. The glass of whiskey is a nod to the band’s love for whiskey, the tailend of a car is in reference to “Sittin’ in the Backseat,” a song on the album, and the white flower is a call out to the cover of “Brother,” a NEEDTOBREATHE single.

Highlighted on the website landing page and instagram carousel, the redesign also includes a partnership between NEEDTOBREATHE and Nightlight Christian Adoptions. This partnership gives 50% of all Into the Mystery ticket sale proceeds to Nightlight Christian Adoptions, an adoption agency that has many paths to parenthood through domestic, international, and foster adoption programs.

The tickets encapsulate the nostalgic journey that the tour is, for both the band and fans, using the same imagery from the tour poster to enhance feelings of nostalgia and exploration.

A Spotify banner and now playing animation with emphasis on movement, exploration, and the whimsical feelings of childhood.

Into the Mystery

The explorative nature of the album is reflected in the map imagery and the sense of journeying created through movement and interaction. The album cover and record label design invite viewers into the album’s sense of exploration and take them back to the younger days of laying in the grass and looking up at the sky or in NEEDTOBREATHE’s case, playing pickup basketball in the neighborhood.
